Be careful when you are out strolling in the countryside. The best would be to have a long stick, taller than yourself to walk with. This will be a useful deterrent for all the scaly critters slithering their way through the grass and bushes. You can also use the stick as a defensive measure if you should come across an animal who would try to harm you. A taller walking stick will also prevent you from falling into the stick, should you slip or trip.
Snakes will rather avoid you if possible. If they are cornered, they will warn you by hissing or defend themselves by spitting and biting. So if you hear that hissing sound, rather move away as calmly as possible.
